Anno-san
Looking up data on Hideaki Anno. Jon told me he was insane, which I can believe from the off-the-wall stuff in eva and kare kano, but I can't find anything on Hideaki Anno's website or this fan-biography about insanity. Maybe I should confront Jon about this.
Edit: I found this Anime News Network biography of Hideaki Anno, which says he worked on Mahoromatic, plus some other interesting stuff, including tons of OAVs.
This interview with Hideaki Anno shows philosophical thinking, possibly on the range of slight emotional problems, but not insanity.
Another interesting tidbit: Hideaki Anno thinks animation has lost its ability to produce innovative works. How's that for data?
